MEED Foundation Hosts South Korean Consul General to Discuss Sustainable Development and Bilateral Collaboration

MEED Foundation had the distinct honour of receiving His Excellency Mr. Seungcheol Lim, Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Erbil, at its headquarters in Sulaymaniyah on May 20, 2025. The official visit marked an important step in strengthening ties between the Republic of Korea and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, particularly in areas related to sustainable development and international cooperation.

During the meeting, MEED Foundation’s Board Director, Mr. Amanj Shawkat welcomed the Consul General and introduced the Foundation’s mission, programs, and ongoing projects across the region. Discussions focused on MEED’s work in environmental sustainability, youth empowerment, innovation, and economic development.

Mr. Seungcheol Lim commended MEED Foundation’s strategic vision and community-based approach, expressing the Republic of Korea’s keen interest in supporting initiatives that align with sustainable development goals. Both parties discussed potential areas of collaboration, including environmental research, green technology transfer, educational exchange, and private sector development.

The visit reaffirmed the shared commitment of both institutions to advancing inclusive development and fostering long-term partnerships between Korean institutions and civil society actors in Iraq.

MEED Foundation expressed its gratitude to the Consul General for his visit and pledged continued engagement with the Republic of Korea in the spirit of mutual respect, collaboration, and progress.
