Biography
Amanj S. Yarwaessi is a seasoned professional in foreign relations,
public relations, and strategic planning. He holds a Master's in
International Public Relations from Cardiff University and a
Bachelor's in International Relations from the University of
Plymouth. With extensive experience in high-level roles, he has led
complex projects within the Kurdistan Region Security Council and
the KRG Department of Foreign Relations.
As the Founder and Board Director of MEED Foundation, Amanj and his
partners focus on sustainable economic development, positioning MEED
as a pioneer in regional initiatives. He has also managed trade
relations to promote bilateral commerce between Iraq and key
partners like Dubai and Spain.
One of Amanj's notable achievements was launching Kurdistan Careers,
Iraq’s first recruitment and training fair, in 2012. Over five
years, this initiative connected 15,000 jobseekers with 350
employers and training providers, transforming the local labour
market by addressing regulatory and structural challenges. His
efforts have significantly promoted private sector employment and
training in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.
In previous roles, Amanj was instrumental in strengthening
diplomatic and economic ties between the Kurdistan Region and Spain.
As a Senior Advisor to the Kurdistan Representative in Spain and
Director of Trade Relations, he was key in establishing the
Kurdistan Representation Office in Madrid and formulating engagement
strategies.
His career highlights include positions such as Director General for
External Relations at the Kurdistan Region Security Council, Senior
Advisor at the KRG Department of Foreign Relations, and Chief
Representative of Dubai Chambers in Iraq.
Fluent in Kurdish and English, with intermediate proficiency in
Spanish, Amanj leverages his multicultural perspective and strategic
acumen to drive impactful change in the regions he serves.
